Needles on the Cheap

dowel needles 2.jpg

I made a couple pair of experimental homemade needles from dowels I found in the trash a while ago.

I got the idea from my sister-in-law Iris and from the Crafty Vixens Tribe. Of course, I had had the idea myself before, but all this talk about it in the space of only a few days made me want to try it. And I had the dowels.

  1. those are fantastic... did you have to wax them to keep the wood fibers from pulling at the yarn? what are the pink rubber bumpers made from? very cool!

  2. I shellacked them. I think I should sand them and shellac them again. Thr ends are just wide rubber bands, which I had a fairly hard time removing from Vigo's rubber band collection (pink is his favorite).
