I just learned that there are companies that will make you a molded doll head from a photograph if you want to give someone an action figure of themselves for their birthday.
I read about this in a rather unlikely place: Kathy Sierra's blog Creating Passionate users. (Kathy rules.)

Vroom Vroom
I've been seeing a lot of knitting art where things like tanks and guns are made by knitting or are covered in knitting.
I wonder if this is something that is particularly "now" or if it's a trend with deep roots. Were people doing this the last time knitting had a peak? When was the last time knitting was so popular?
Anyhow, this stuff kinda makes me think of Beuys. Only, you know, inverted.
Kai: I can't find that tank you sent me.

Little Baby Dreadlock Hat
I made this hat by knitting a regular tube and then knitting several long rectangular locks off the top. I tied them all together and then felted the thing in the washing machine.

Baby Socks
I've gone back on a sock binge, I'm afraid. I'm working on one pair for Erik (not these) and I'm planning to make a slew of little baby socks for the not-yet-born wee one of Nina and Derrick. More pictures coming soon.
